Fewer, Better Things

CULTURE: "In this Slow Food era, the grandest, most self-important home chefs talk in grand, self-important tones" - An interesting article that originally appeared in New York Magazine, proving when it comes to food, we just can't win.

FOOD: For those of you missing Asha Gomez's Cardamom Hill restaurant, check out the chef's restaurant Spice to Table in O4W. Better yet, make a taste of her famous southern meets indian food at home, with her version of a traditional hoecake (seriously, this looks delicious). Then make sure to pick up a copy of her new cookbook My Two Souths: Blending the Flavors of India into a Southern Kitchen.

DESIGN: The internet is going crazy over the announcement of Modern by Dwell Magazine for Target. The preview images look AMAHZING, with over 120 products to look forward to, and launching December 27th! Brace yourselves!

DRINK: "The English word for shot relates to the German word geschoss, which is more similar to the word for ammunition or projectile" - A funny piece from GQ

ART: The High Museum of Art has just launched a new event as of last month called First Fridays. The museum is calling the event "part art party, part happy hour." November's event (on 11/4) features a performance by the Atlanta Ballet, two gallery talks, drop in screen-printing with Indie Craft Experience and artist Broken Window Theory, as well as campaign button making just in time for Election Day. Free with admission or membership.

COVETING:  Cuyana makes such amazing products under the motto, "Fewer, better things." They make gorgeous, simple pieces at a great price point, like this cashmere coat, which I am LITERALLY OBSESSED WITH. If anyone would like to gift me this for Christmas, I wear a size M!

Keep it Classy

DRINK: Bar carts are still a thing! One Kings Lane gets advice from designers on how to improve your home bar here.

FOOD: I'll be in Savannah this coming weekend to see two dear friends tie the knot (you'll here more about that later, trust). All I want is to do is sneak away from the wedding fun to check out Hugh Acheson's The Florence

DESIGN: How awesome are these sexy lamps? CONE is a collection by Werner Aisslinger for B.Lux inspired by old craft paper lunch bags.

CULTURE: The Wild Rumpus Parade & Spectacle is a three day event in Athens, Georgia where thousands of people gather in costume and "romp" through the streets, an idea influenced by Maurice Sendak's book Where the Wild Things Are (one of my childhood favs!). Proceeds benefit the Georgia River Network.

ART: At least three times a week I wish I was in NYC. This week it's because the Guggenheim has a new gallery space for the permanent collection devoted to early modernism. The exhibition features some of my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE ARTISTS, such as Marc Chagall, Vasily Kandinsky, Kasimir Malevich, among many others. This is serious guys, get thee to the Guggenheim ASAP.

WORDS TO LIVE BY: Great advice from actress & interior designer Elsie de Wolfe on how to keep it classy.
